Another painted pool bites the dusts! There many of these type of pools around because they are cheap to build and using reinforced cement, plaster and paint is something that your average builder can cope with. Unfortunately, due to the build quality of many of these pools they subsequently cause problems for their owners when after a few years they start to leak and the paint bubbles and flakes off after even less time.  While pools can be repainted this doesn’t resolve the reason why the paint has flaked off in the first place and is best done when the weather is warm and dry, which is exactly when you and your guests want to use the pool. After putting up with these issues for a number of years many owners decide to retrofit the pool with a PVC liner, pool plaster or tile finish. This pool has leaked for quite a while and now that the plaster has been removed we can see where from and why. There are several cracks at the usual stress points and there was no waterproof membrane applied to the walls before they were plastered. Before we add the new tiles we need to deal with the stress point issues and then apply a reinforced waterproof membrane to all the surfaces so that there will be no leaks from the pool and stop water entering the pool through hydrostatic pressure.
