Whats the perfect temperature for my pool?

,

The ideal temperature of a pool can vary depending on its use. For example if you are teaching children to swim or you have elderly relatives using the pool the a higher temperature is recommended but for general use the ideal temperature for pool water is between 26 and 28 degrees. Reaching this temperature can be a little difficult especially in the spring and Autumn months. The greater the volume of water your pool has the longer it will take to heat up in the spring so a large deep pool is not always a good idea if you are looking to extend your rental season into the shoulder month. There are various heating options available on the market but as a pool loses the majority of its heat through evaporation of the water it is really necessary to have some form of pool cover to both help heat the pool and help retain the heat especially over night or on colder days.

The two types of heating that we would recommend are either solar panels or a heat exchanger. There are other options such as gas boilers or electric heaters, but their running costs are extortionate. The advantage of solar panels is that there is cost to heating the pool once they are installed, however the disadvantage is that they need a large amount of space and obviously they only work when the sun is shining. Heat pumps are a lot smaller than the solar panel install and  work even when there is no sun but there is the cost of electricity to take into account. The latest Inverter heat pumps are much more efficient that their older counterparts so always check which type you are being quoted for. The ideal solution for guaranteeing you have a nice warm pool at all times is to install both systems so that you have heating when there is no sun and then free heating when there is sun.

Once the pool is warm it needs to be kept that way and this requires a pool cover to be installed. There is a large range of covers available depending on what their job is and what your budget is. Solar Bubble covers help heat the pool water as well as keeping the heat in the water in bad weather and through the night. The foam style cover does not help heat the pool but is better at insulating the pool than the bubble cover does. Electric slatted covers can heat the pool as well as insulate it depending on their design as well providing an amount of child safety as they have solid structure that will support weight.

Finally there is a liquid solar cover that is added to the pool water which creates an undetectable molecular blanket that reduces water evaporation which is the main course of hear loss.   Whatever your requirements, there are is a from of heating and retention suitable for your pool.
